Learn to create your own computer programs using the powerful Python programming language. This camp covers the basics of writing code and thinking like a programmer, and you will do several fun projects using lights, sound and motion sensing on your own Microbit pocket sized computer. If you’ve wondered about what goes on inside your computer or wanted to dive into “real” programming, this is for you! You will be working with the latest version of Python 3 and writing your code in the IDLE programming environment.

Note: This camp will be the same as last year's camp with added projects using Microbits. If your camper has already taken this camp, they may want to take to take our advanced camp!

Class is supported in part by Tacoma Creates with need based scholarships available for residents of the City of Tacoma! Please contact for assistance.

Class size limited to 5 students.  Students will practice safe distancing and will be needing to wear face masks.  Fablab will also provide comfortable face shields to students.

Campers should bring their own laptop to work on. All of the software we use is open source and can be downloaded for free. If your camper does not have a laptop available we can provided a limited amount. Please contact Yvette in advance to reserve a lab computer.
