Laser cutting and engraving is a very versatile process used to cut or engrave numerous materials including wood, leather, acrylic, anodized aluminum, Formica, and even mother of pearl. It can also be used engrave and mark some metals, marble, and stone to create a variety of projects. The laser cutter excels even with fine, intricate work.
This class does not include 3D CAD design. This introductory 3D printing class will go over how to use the Makerbot 3D printers and the software associated with them. You will learn how to prepare a 3D model for printing, resources to acquire 3D models, as well as the programs available to create 3D models.

In this Basic Operations and Safety class, you will learn how to safely operate many of the woodworking tools at FabLab Tacoma including the SawStop table saw, wood drill press, wood band saw, wood miter saw, circular saw, and orbital hand sander.
You will perform various procedures on these tools, obtaining familiarity and expertise, and readying you for the creation of your next wood shop project.
Please register for the class online before the class date. If we do not have any registered the day before the class, class will be cancelled! Class size is limited.
